“My daughter attends First Steps, she & I love it! The teacher's are great & very helpful. The lesson plans & curriculum are encouraging & promising. The atmosphere is well thought out, and just a beautiful place for children to grow/ develop. Within my daughters first week of attending she already came home with new skills! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in search of quality early childhood education for their children or grandchildren. After all, children are our future!“

Toddler (1 year to 2 years)
Our toddler room ranges in age from about 15 months to 24 months. Some of the qualifications for our “toddlers” is that they be walking, are off the pacifier and bottle, and are down to one nap a day. This classroom starts to introduce a structure to the day. They will have breakfast, 2 snacks and catered lunch. In this room we start to introduce a basic curriculum, the morning is filled with teacher-initiated activities that involve art, music, fine motor, large motor, sensory exploration, free play and story time. (A more detailed listing of the schedule is posted in the classroom for parent review.) The toddlers are introduced to sleeping on cots, as well as using cups and spoons. The children are still allowed to bring blankets and stuffed animals to sleep with so they have the comfort of home while they nap. In the afternoon we like to focus on children interaction and socialization. We believe that allowing the children to learn and develop from each other is just as important as learning from our teachers.
